Axum is a city located in northern Ethiopia. It’s known for its tall, carved obelisks, relics of the ancient Kingdom of Axum. With the city ascending centuries before the birth of Christ and its position next to the Red Sea, Axum became a major center for international trade. Known for its monumental obelisk and as an early center of Christianity in Africa, Axum became one of the holiest of cities of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

Lalibela is a town located in the northern central Ethiopia. It’s known for its distinctive rock-cut churches dating from the 12th & 13th centuries, which are pilgrimage sites for Coptic Christians.
